Goodness Gardens Day MAY 17, 2003: The Library obtained a grant to put on the event for May 17, 2003, at the Oak Run Elementary School. The community was very supportive and everyone had a wonderful time. We would like to thank these organizations and agencies which have contributed funds, donated literature or brought a display to our last event. We hope to see them again in 2004! Be sure to stop by their websites for additional gardening information!
Goodness Gardens Day 2003: Final Report 2003 The May 17, 2002 event was very successful. It was a great day! The weather was perfect. The location attractive. Many families groups came, but all age groups were represented. It was a very good cross section of the community. The Library had anticipated a smaller attendance this year due to several of last year's participants being unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts and budget cutbacks. About 75 people attended the half-day event. Peak attendance came in the morning with a consistent flow of people from 9AM through 11 AM. People took family packs of garden seeds provided by the library, and gathered information about rural life from the various exhibits. The Library's plant sale was also quite successful. Everyone involved whether as organizer, exhibitor, speaker or attendee was very pleased with the event. It was a great community day! In August and September the Farmer's Market effort in Oak Run has meant fresh vegetables for a growing number of families. In September 2003, the Library launches Patron access to the Internet and will also have gardening information available on CD-ROM for in-library use to help gardeners make the most out of their efforts. LET'S KEEP GROWING THOSE VEGGIES!
